Just in the St. Nick of Valen-time

The shelves have been stacked high with red packaging, and cut-out hearts have covered store windows for weeks, but it snuck up on me again... Valentine's Day! So close to Christmas, January Birthday's, Groundhog Day - it's easy to let Valentine's Day slide by. But there's Martha Stewart on TV going way overboard with frosting, glitter, glue, felt, cardboard and sprinkles, all the while yammering away about "showing someone how much you care with hand-made gifts..."

Here's my first attempt at a hand-made gift of love, heart-shaped California sun dried apricots

Luckily, soaking in a warming bath of whiskey was a mash of ground dried apricots, hazelnuts, dried figs, lemon. dried pears and spices. It's the filling for a traditional Christmas cookie, but February 14th @ 2pm is no time to hold to tradtiion, a Valentine dessert was needed. And if you really love him/her, why not prepare a dessert that's good for your valentine?

Loaded with beta-carotene, vitamin A, C, fiber, iron, protein and enough whiskey to warm up your valentine's heart... and other parts.

If you'd like the recipe, drop me a line. I've gotta get ready for President's Day now.

I'd be glad to send the recipe to you. Please email your address to maryann@traina.com.
It's really good, and I think you'll like the outcome. A bit of work though.... Thanks, MaryAnn
